- Biennial Youth Mission Trip: St. James’s offers a mission trip for high school students every other year. After taking a year off in 2018, a group of students, parents, and clergy traveled to Andean Equador with FIBUSPAM to assist the local population in need. In the summer of 2016, they traveled to New Orleans to help with continued post-Katrina rebuilding efforts. The destination of our 2014 Mission Trip/Pilgrimage was the Dominican Republic. We helped to orchestrate a Vacation Bible School for 150 children at Santisima Trinidad, an Episcopal Parish and School in the Diocese of the Dominican Republic. These trips offer the youth opportunities to do their own fundraising, enhance their spiritual journey, and connect with people living in very different cultures and circumstances.
- Friends of St. Vincent’s is a group of volunteers formed in 1997 to help the children and staff at St. Vincent’s Center for Handicapped Children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti obtain the resources needed to educate and care for the children. Their mission statement is to provide service, supplies and support to the children and staff at St. Vincent’s Center, a residential school, day school, orphanage and hospital for over 300 handicapped children. For more information regarding this outreach ministry, you may contact the former Director, Hope Lennartz, who is a St. James’s parishioner.
- Financial Donations: St. James’s annual budget includes several thousand dollars designated for General Outreach. These funds are distributed to numerous nonprofit organizations, both local and worldwide. While each year’s funds are distributed differently, these are some of the organizations that we have supported in recent years:
