The treble section of our choir is made up of girls in grades four through 12, and boys in grade four through voice change. Treble choristers are full members of the St. James’s Choir, so participation in the program provides these young people with rigorous training in vocal technique and music theory, preparing them to learn and perform challenging new repertoire each week.

The choir sings for the 9.30AM Sunday Eucharist and for all major feast days. In addition to these duties, they sing Evensong throughout the year, Compline on Sunday evenings during Lent, and for special events.

For the 2018-2019 season, some of these special events include singing at the Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival at Trinity College, and here at St. James’s for Lessons and Carols for Advent, and a concert featuring the works of Mendelssohn.

In addition to their regular rehearsals and performances, choristers frequently attend outings, including an annual overnight choir camp to Nantucket.

In 2016, the choir traveled to England and sang daily Evensong at Hereford Cathedral and Sunday services at Bristol Cathedral. The choir returns to England in July of 2019 for a one-week residency at Worcester Cathedral.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 5.15 - 6.30PM, follwed by choir dinner, then a rehearsal with the full choir from 7-7.30PM. To schedule an informal introduction to the choirmaster on behalf of a prospective chorister, or to learn more about the program, please contact Vaughn Mauren at music@stjameswh.org.
